All, we began experiencing intermittent calling issues on Tuesday afternoon for some outbound calls. Sometime Wednesday evening, there were some issues detected with Great Plains and the issue has progressively gotten worse. Due to the issues we are experiencing, we have routed calls over to our alternate providers while we continue to work with Great Plains here later this morning.
For now, SOME inbound calls may be working, however not all/consistently. We have a backup 800 number for these types of issues, but I'm in the process of creating a phone tree to direct city vs county calls. Once that's in place, I'll update this notice, and email department heads who may choose to post it on Facebook until we have resolution.
Outbound calls will also utilize this 800 number as an interim solution. Please note that some individuals may ignore this number as it's not known, or may show up as "risk or spam" to them due to it's minimal use. We are just trying to provide some sort of option for outbound calling during this issue.
I hope to have an update by 8am, but that will all depend on the coordination with engineers at Great Plains. I appreciate your patience and understanding during this outage.
Backup numbers that may be shared to socials during the outage:
General Decatur County, City of Greensburg, and shared/tenant offices: 844-221-1027
Communications/Police Department/Sheriff's Department & Detention Center: 833-421-4911
As of 11:30am, we've routed all inbound/outbound calls back to their normal paths and numbers. I'm going to update the message on the temporary numbers and request all Facebook posts be updated at the top to state that things are back to normal (and if possible remove the bottom 2 statements that include the temp numbers so we minimize additional calls coming in to them). We'll continue to monitor but believe the upstream providers have resolved the routing issue.
